By offering pictorial representations of the human body to readers, they both offered students cheaper and more practical means of studying anatomy wherever they were without having to rely on clunky or expensive plaster models. - The Human Body: A Short Account of the Anatomical Arrangement and Physiological Functions of the Various Organs of the Human Body, written by Owen Lankester - Philips' Anatomical Model: A Pictorial Representation of the Human Frame and Its Organs, written by Dr. Schmidt, with this English edition editied by William S. Furneaux. In quarter cloth, with the publisher's original paper boards. Externally, slight browning and dulling to boards, with creases to edges, mostly to the extremities. Faint spots to spine and extremities of Schmidt. Signs of browning and offsetting to end papers. Pictorial diagrams on rear pastedowns remain bright and clean. Internally, Schmidt firmly bound, and Lankester text loose from wraps. Slight age toning and spotting, mostly to first and final leaves, and to leaf extremities. Good Only.
