Dort sieht er zum ersten Mal eine Fliegerschule aus nächster Nähe und sofort ist in ihm die Leidenschaft für das Fliegen entbrannt. Er reicht ein Gesuch zur Versetzung zu den Fliegertruppen ein, doch er muss sich gedulden. Schließlich, im Juni 1914, erfüllt sich sein Wunsch und er wird zur Fliegerschule versetzt. Einen Tag nach seiner Abschlussprüfung zum Flugzeugführer befindet sich Deutschland im Krieg. Bald darauf fliegt er über der Westfront und wird zum weltweit ersten Piloten, der Jagd auf gegnerische Flugzeuge macht. Seine Karriere kennt von nun an kein Halten mehr.…

Besonders interessant für den historisch interessierten Leser sind die bis ins Detail beschriebenen wilden Kämpfe zwischen deutschen und feindlichen Flugzeugen. Die martialische Sprache der Autoren erscheint uns heutigen Lesern kaum noch verständlich. Jagd-Instinkte werden gegen gegnerische Menschen ausgetobt. Mit vielen Bildern und Zusatzinformationen wird dieser Band neu herausgegeben von Jürgen Ruszkowski. -Rezession: Ich bin immer wieder begeistert von der 'Gelben Buchreihe'. Die Bände reißen einen einfach mit. Inzwischen habe ich ca. 20 Bände erworben und freue mich immer wieder, wenn ein neues Buch erscheint. oder: Sämtliche von Jürgen Ruszkowski aus Hamburg herausgegebene Bücher sind absolute Highlights. Dieser Band macht da keine Ausnahme. Sehr interessante und abwechslungsreiche Themen aus verschiedenen Zeit-Epochen, die mich von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite gefesselt haben!
