Wraps. Zustand: Very Good. no date, perhaps 1980. Blue, white and red side stapled wraps. 8 ¼ by 6 inches. 27 pp. Black and white photos and illustrations throughout. Presumed first issue of this postpunk/new wave fanzine, edited by Polly, purporting to be a "spearhead of a great uprising against all forms of tedium." With a new wave aesthetic combined with (by then) traditional fanzine formats and tropes, Songsong presented the usual news, interviews and commentary on a variety of acts and the punk scene. This issue with an interview with Joe Strummer of the Clash, pieces on Scritti Politti, the a capella punk act Furious Pig, etc. VERY GOOD condition. Apparently signed, with an inscription by a Ron Scott on the front cover (possibly a member of a UK band InSex?). Minor toning. Small vertical stain on the rear cover. (Mark Jay Collection).

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Baechler, Oscar (illustrator). Neuware - Valentina Rides Solo Tina rides a motorcycle, packs a sharp knife, speaks 26 languages and won't take 'no' for an answer in any of them. Her undercover passport reads Valentina Corazón from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, but in reality she's a U.S. secret agent tracking Border Patrol corruption and the increasingly violent narco-traffickers along the Mexico border. Her grandfather was a Navajo Code Talker in WWII. Her father was a spy for JFK: an electronics specialist in Viet Nam who rose to cabinet-level secret agency status with Arizona's Udall brothers after Bobby Kennedy got tired of J. Edgar Hoover and the CIA pushing his big brother Jack around. Now she's a Navajo/Vietnamese linguist and cryptographer who went undercover in Kuwait ('Put on a Burqa and they all ignore you.') facing her biggest challenge: infiltrating the crooked underworld on both sides of the Nogales border after her predecessor was murdered. Valentina Nguyen-Desjardins-Toledo-a new heroine in an agency so secret the U.S. government doesn't even know it exists. The bad guys are about to find out.
