The exterior shows a lot of soiling and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues except for a small tear that measures about one half of an inch in the upper left corner of the rear pastedown. The front end page contains a signature 'W. B. Stevenson" - unknown if this is related to the author or not. No other handwriting found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings, no text pages torn or loose. There is foxing present just scattered throughout some of the text pages but is fairly prominent on both end pages and pastedowns. This is the first US edition which contains 244 pages +4 pages of publisher ads in the back. The first page advertises The Wrong Box plus The Black Arrow in the bottom half of the page. The book should grade higher but the front board has a light colored stain at the lower left area that starts to carry over onto the spine.
