In den WarenkorbSmall 8vo, pp. viii, 160; title carefully altered by an early hand (possibly that of the author see below); some light stains, upper free endpaper missing; else a good copy in contemporary red half roan over marbled boards, rubbed but sound. Sole edition, and very rare: the only copy listed in Copac and WorldCat is the one at the British Library. This unusual collection of poems is dedicated to Princess Elizabeth (1770-1840), third daughter of George III and Queen Charlotte; but this copy could well be a copy given by the author to a close female friend: the title page has been altered with deletions, so that it reads 'Dedicated, by permission, to Eliza.' and there is a poem addressed to 'Eliza' on p. 154, subtitled as 'written in adversity'. In his dedication, Orme claims to have written other works (though none earlier than this can now be traced) which the Princess had received with favour, and states that he had been a lieutenant in the army: certainly there is evidence of strong martial patriotism, including a whole series of military poems (among them two odes to Nelson) on pp. 99-128, and a new version of God Save the King at the very end. The only other publication by Orme that I can trace is a short volume written in tribute to William Pitt the younger, published the following year.
