Notebook style red-titled oatmeal cloth 13x17cm, with the upper board folded back and secured by a short ribbon to the lower to form a secure stand for desk or table display. The title to the back reads: "Orient Line to Australia / Through bookings to Tasmania and New Zealand calling at Gibraltar, Toulon, Naples, Port Said, Aden, Colombo / Cruises to the Mediterranean, Norway and Northern Capitals". Mounted to the front is the calendar printed to the rectos, containing (1)pp illustrated title, @(53)pp each headed "Orient Line to Australia, Mediterranean Ports, Egypt and Ceylon" with 1 week per page + (15)pp unindexed full-page b/w photos interspersed within, captioned with various facts and details about services, facilities and destinations. Each leaf is perforated along the top edge for easy removal. However, this copy is complete and unused. The boards are good, foxed, and rubbed to the corners. The title page is creased and dusted. The interiors are generally good to very good with corner creasing to the first leaves especially. The title features the imposing figure of a naval officer looking through binoculars. The other images are of locations along the route, and of facilities and life on board. The locations include a Landing launch in the Norwegian Fjords; Stockholm; Estoril; Monte Carlo; Bay of Naples; The Acropolis; The Citadel at Cairo; Kanyan Dancer, Ceylon; Flinders Ranges, South Australia; and Sydney by night. Scenes on board show the Orford Tourist Dining Saloon; Afternoon on deck; 2 views of the Tourist Class games deck; and Orcades 1st Class swimming pool. Orcades was one of the new ships introduced for the route to Australia in 1938. Operations halted during WW2, when Orient Line's ships were requisitioned for the war effort. A depleted service resumed in 1947. Extremely rare. Cambridge University holds unspecified volumes (OCLC 741644855).

ÂDuring her time with the Orient Line, Oronsay primarily operated on the UKâ"Australia route and began transpacific services in 1954, before the Orient Line was fully absorbed into P&O.
