Sree Narayana Guru (18561928), an enlightened seer, represents Vedanta as a Science of Consciousness or pure Epistemology. This book deals with Guru's epistemology and shows how it can eliminate many of the problems in philosophy and life. The Guru conceives Consciousness or Arivu as the one all underlying Reality that assumes the form of everything in the world, both mind and matter. Epistemologists are usually either idealists or realists, but the Guru is neither. To him there is no need to place one above the other since they are two manifest forms of one Consciousness. Many eminent persons have tried to solve the problem of consciousness, but could not succeed because they were not ready to consider man as a pure being and the essence of the world as Consciousness. To the Guru, in every event of knowing there is the coming together of subject, object and also the function of knowing. These three are Consciousness in essence. What we really need is awareness of it. All kinds of divisiveness, conflicts and crises can be solved through an awakening of the inner consciousness of man which is non-different from the one all underlying Reality titled Brahman, Atman or Consciousness.…

Hardcover. Zustand: New. This comprehensive biography, surpassing all the biographies written so far of Sree Narayana Guru, is unique in many respects - his life and philosophy, his disciples, the institutions associated with his name, the temples he consecrated, his mystic powers and so on. Real understanding of the Guru should be based on his gurutvam, which transcends time and space, to get the true vision of him. An individual outlook in evaluating the quintessence of the life, vision and views of the Guru cannot reveal his real persona. Most of his biographies assess the Guru and his vision of Truth from a historical perspective and in the light of periodical and regional issues. This approach makes most of his biographies partial and disorganized. The present biography adopts an integrated approach representing the multifaceted personality of the Guru encompassing all aspects of his life, especially his Advaitic vision and gurutvam. The life of Sree Narayana Guru was an elegant incorporation of a compassionate person, who strived hard day and night for the emancipation of the downtrodden, welfare of the society and above all he was a great sage who glorified the spiritual bliss of the soul by his exemplary life. This biography is a wide canvas that portrays a vivid picture of the Guru from all possible angles that a biographer can contemplate of a personality like Sree Narayana Guru, which makes this work a collector's issue.…
