Zustand: Fine. - A white 3 inch high by 6-1/2 inch wide envelope is illustrated with a black-and-white vignette of winter sports athletes titled below the image "Winter Sports / Ice Dancing, Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Ice Hockey" with an Olympics 84 postage stamp. Signed on the address panel "Toni Sailer". Near fine. Toni Sailer [1935-2009] was an Austrian alpine ski racer, regarded as one of the best in the sport. At the age of 20, he won all three gold medals in alpine skiing at the 1956 Winter Olympics. He won two golds and a silver at the 1958 World Championships. He also won world titles both years in the combined, then a "paper" race, but awarded with medals by the International Ski Federation.

Official daily program for August 5, 1936, Summer Olympic Games, Berlin. Wrappers. Fair-good condition, wrappers succumbed to age and separated. Results of some races were filled in by an American visitor to the Games, including Jesse Owen's win in the semifinal heat of the 200 meter dash. Another African-American, Matthew Robinson, won the other heat and eventually finished second to Owens. Owens had already won the 100 meter and the long jump and his victories are listed among the winners in the rear of the program. Another African-American teammate, Frederick Pollard, Jr., also qualified in the semifinal of an event he eventually won, the 110 meter hurdles. To see these finishes, laden with political meaning, recorded on the day is outstanding.

The first volume (of three) presented by Lillehammer as part of their unsuccessful bid to host the 1992 Winter Olympics. This one is titled "In This We Believe" and is essentially a summary of the full application. 4to. Profusely illustrated in colour. A very good copy in dust wrapper.

First edition hard back binding in publisher's original salmon pink cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine and to the upper panel. 8vo. 7'' x 5''. Contains [vi] 130 printed pages of text with monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout. Spine age darkened, ink message dated 1905 in French to the front free end paper from Charles Emile Roche to P. H. Cockman. He held hunting and shooting rights over nearly 250,000 acres in Glen Strathfarrar, Glen Cannich and Glen Affric in the Highlands of Scotland. His favourite firearm was the Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver (Disputed, he favours the Webley Fosberry above other 'automatic pistols' in the 1901 edition of 'The Art of Revolver Shooting' but it is not mentioned in the 1911 edition nor in the subsequent 'Automatic Pistol Shooting' or 'The Modern Pistol and How to Shoot it. In 'The Art of Revolver Shooting' the Smith & Wesson (American or Russian Model) is the most mentioned revolver, followed by the Colt and Webley a poor third). He died in Parsloes Park, Dagenham, Essex on 12 August 1920. He won two medals for shooting: a gold in 1908 and a silver in 1912. He also won a gold medal for his sculpture An American Trotter at Stockholm in 1912. Member of the P.B.F.A. FIREARMS (Defence Weapons).
