A first edition copy of this charming collection of twelve songs, written and beautifully illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker with accompanying musical scores by Olive Linnel. Complete with original unclipped dustwrapper. This copy is undated, dated using… Copac. Collated, complete with twelve tipped in coloured plates. Cicely Mary Barker was a renowned artist who worked proficiently in watercolour, pen and ink, oils, and pastels. She is best known for her illustrations depicting fairies and botanically accurate flowers, that have enchanted both adults and children alike around the world. With neat juvenile colouring only to the vignette illustration to the title page and to the final page of text. In the publisher's original cloth binding with paper boards (featuring a coloured image tipped to the front board) and an unclipped original dustwrapper. Externally generally smart. with slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Several faint ink marks to front board. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Dustwrapper rubbed, with loss to head and tail of spine and gutters. Fading and marking to wrap, with closed tears to joints. Large closed tear to upper fore edge of front of wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities, but bright and clean, with the odd light spot to the occasional page, heavier to first and last few pages. Light scattered spots and pencil inscription to lower extremity of 'The Rose Hip Fairy' plate, not affecting image. Neat juvenile colouring to title page and final page of text. Very Good.
