The author took this 'Recreation Tour' for the sake of his health. He records his journey by ship in daily entries from 24 October 1887 to 31 January, 1888, when he reached Australia. The final few pages record his arrival in Australia. The book is very rare, having been printed from the original manuscript, perhaps for the author; we can find only a single institutional copy (in Norway).
