In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. Original cord and staple-bound gilt titled green textured wraps 19x25cm. 27, (1)pp with several b/w photos and a map. Near fine, with a light diagonal crease. Although not stated as such, this very rare attractively produced promotional work uses images from a 1925 film of the same name "The Persian Oil Industry - The Story of a Great National Enterprise" made for APOC by the Topical Press Agency, London (reference: BP Video Library). Going into more textual detail than the film, it presents a history since the D'Arcy Concession was awarded in 1901, describing the main Masjid-i-Sulaiman fields, the Abadan Refinery and the pipeline connecting them, processes, staff welfare, medical and education services, transport, financial benefits to Persia, with a positive outlook. The map locates APOC's operations including the pipeline route. A fine captioned frontis portrait of His Imperial Majesty Reza Shah Pahlavi acknowledges his interest in APOC's work, and his visit in Dec 1924, and a photo shows him at the oilfields in conversation with APOC officials (p26). Among photos of local people are the Company's Fire Guards, Traffic Control officers, pipeline layers, derrick builders, other oil workers, road builders, students and schoolchildren. Also shown are panoramic views, infrastructure including bridges roads and shipping, office buildings, living quarters and staff facilities, oil installations and equipment being built or in action, etc. Worldcat and Library Hub locate only 2 printed copies at SOAS and the National Trust, with a microform copy at NYPL.
