Und dann habe ich innerhalb einer Woche im Krankenhaus gekündigt, mir ein One-Way-Ticket gekauft und bin nach New York geflogen um Künstler zu werden." . Norman Seeff: "Die Zeit war hart und ich hatte große Selbstzweifel, aber gleichzeitig habe ich auch sehr viel gelernt. Irgendwann habe ich beschlossen, einfach jeden Tag eine Fotosession zu machen. Es gab damals in New York eine Bar, die sowas wie das Zentrum der Künstlerszene war. Andy Warhol war da, Patti Smith und Robert Mapplethorpe, Blondie war die Kellnerin, Jonny Winter hing da rum und da bin ich jeden Abend hin und habe mir jemand Interessantes ausgesucht. Meistens wusste ich nicht mal wer die waren, ich fand einfach, dass sie interessant aussahen. Aber sie waren alle wirklich großzügig und haben gesagt: Klar machen wir eine Fotosession mit Dir' und so habe ich mir ein Portfolio aufgebaut"."
