Ex libris Henrietta Peirce from her Grandmother. The first combined edition, and the first illustrated edition of THE BEARS. It is based in the 18th century. Nieritz was a popular and prolific writer for German youth. The next two stories are by Agnes Franz. The first is about a rebellious pupil who learns to be good from a wise nun.
