Comprised of six volumes in one, including 'The Night Jar', 'The Garden Warbler', 'The Ringed Plover', 'A Night at St Catherine's Lighthouse', 'A Mixed Bag' and 'A Final Round-Up'. This work is an ornithological study of the birds around Osborne Royal Naval College on the Isle of Wight. This college is part of the prestigious Osborne House. Nicholl's aim of this work was to interest cadets at the college, in the bird life around them. With photographs of birds spotted in the area, taken by the author. Some photos are printed, while others are tipped-in. With a list of all birds observed near the college in the decade prior to publishing. With an ink inscription of Newlands Library to the front endpaper In the publisher's original green cloth binding.
