Hawes, and sold at the Foundry, in Moorfields, and at the Rev. Mr. Wesley's Preaching Houses in Town and Country. 1776. 70 pages. [Bound with] An Alarm to Unconverted Sinners Joseph Alleine London. Printed by John Paramore, at the Foundry, Upper-Moorfields, 1785, 107 pages. All three volumes bound together. All sewn together and made up into a single text block. Early, leather binding, which has pulled away from the spine, so that the front over is not attached to the front endpaper or text block. Several handwritten lines on the inside of the front cover, including the date 1790 and the name George Hagerty, and the words Tonoloways and Pennsylvania. Front free endpaper detached but present. Handwritten note on that page, "This Book was bound in Carlisle Pennsylvania for Y." Second blank page detached but present. Title page detached but present as well, with the name George Hagerty written on it twice. Back side of title page has George Hagerty's name again, as well as 9 part Table of Contents. Hagerty's name appears again on the title page of the Alleine volume. The top edge is trimmed closer to the header and text than the bottom edge. Measures about 4 x 6.5 inches. The three volumes were originally issued separately but were bound together, evidently more than 200 years ago. Pages variously toned from age, text block no longer as tight as when it was newer, but all still together. Leather covers scuffed and edgeworn. All three of these volumes are scarce, all printed in England at the time of the Revolutionary War, but with Pennsylvania ownership dated 1790 on the inside front cover. George Hagerty has been hard to trace, but he seems to have been one of the first Methodist preachers in Pennsylvania.
