Includes frontispiece portrait of Short. Written by Sir Francis Newbolt, the work also includes a list of members. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart with dust-dulling limited to the spine, Gilding to the top edge still bright. The odd small mark to the boards. Slight bumping and rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. With ink inscription: "David Robinson to Gwyneth, January 28th 1944". Internally, pages are firmly bound, and generally bright and clean. Some light spotting scattered throughout, slightly heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good. book.

The enclosure has ties to fore edges and black titling to the front board; spine has pencil writing and minor fraying, bumping to corners, age toning, scuffing, and light stains throughout. Quarter-bound in tan cloth with blue paper boards. Boards have moderate age toning primarily to the front board and along the edges, and bumping and chipping to edges. Textblock has pencil marks to the front end pages, moderate adhesive age toning to the end pages, light plus age toning throughout, an ink stain to the gutter of plate 42 [not impacting image], occasional light smudge mark to edges, and splitting to the gutter throughout.
