Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First edition. Octavo. 264pp. Dark green cloth gilt. Bookplate on front pastedown. Binding a trifle cocked, spine toned with the gilt titling almost rubbed away, and six leaves with a small corner crease, very good in a heavily spine-toned, near very good dust jacket with the spine scuffed, edgewear, and shallow loss at the corners and spine ends. Briefly Inscribed by Nathan on the front fly and dated "Philadelphia January, 1933." A presentable copy of a relatively uncommon title, according to the jacket "the first book that presents its subject from this [i.e. the student's] angle." The author studied at Cornell and the Jewish Theological Seminary of New York; he resigned from his pulpit in Philadelphia in 1930 to study Sociology and the Psychology of Religion at the University of Pennsylvania. This book grew out of his Ph.D. dissertation.
