Am bekanntesten wurde sein Lied "Mariandl" aus dem Film "Der Hofrat Geiger". Er war ab 1938 auch, da áls "Halbjude" rassisch untragbar!, inoffizieller Hausautor des Kabaretts "Wiener Werkel", deren Stücke aber, trotz angeblichem Bekenntnis zur NS-Ideologie und gekonntem Lavieren, oft zensiert und teilweise verboten wurden.
