Written by the well-known German Benedictine monk and reform educator, Philipp Jakob Nabholz The first edition of this work. In a lovely marbled hardcover binding. Philipp Jakob Nabholz was a German Benedictine monk from Villingen. He studied theology, philosohpy and mathematics which spurned his interest in education leading him to receive training as a teacher. Fo over half a year Nabholz was in the company of famous Swiss reform pedagogue Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. One of Nabholz' literacy methods was used at elementary schools in Baden. This work explores Nabholz' different methods and structure of reading and writing. With two folding tabled regarding grammar. Printed in black-letter script and written in the original German. In marbled hardcover boards. Externally, smart. Small paper library title and shelf number labels to the spine, written on in contemporary ink. Light rubbing to the head and tail of spine as well as to the extremities. Small pencil inscriptions to the front pastedown and to the recto of front endpaper. Prior owner's pen emphasis to the title page under the editor's name and publisher's information. Institutional stamp to the verso of title page and to the verso of contents leaf, stamp is not legible due to bleeding. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with instances of scattered spotting, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good. book.
