The work was an… instant hit and sold to Hollywood for a movie.However the book was pulped by the publishers following a London aristocrat suing for libel. He believed he was identifiable in the story. However instead of paying out, the publishers simply pulped the book leaving this as a very scarce survivor.From the blurb:A Crooked Sixpence is a book about people from many different backgrounds. Murray Sayle started his literary career as a newspaper boy, he slowly rose through these ranks to become the editor of the Sydney University student newspaper. He wrote this book in 1958. In the original publisher's cloth in the original unclipped dust wrapper. A damp stain to the dust wrapper. Edge wear to the dust wrapper resulting in loss to the head and tail of the spine.
