The work was an… instant hit and sold to Hollywood for a movie.However the book was pulped by the publishers following a London aristocrat suing for libel. He believed he was identifiable in the story. However instead of paying out, the publishers simply pulped the book leaving this as a very scarce survivor.From the blurb:A Crooked Sixpence is a book about people from many different backgrounds. Murray Sayle started his literary career as a newspaper boy, he slowly rose through these ranks to become the editor of the Sydney University student newspaper. He wrote this book in 1958.
