In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Good Only. None (illustrator). A fascinating and unique copy of Murdo Mackenzie's study of Scottish salmon fisheries, with extensive handwritten notes, edits and research added by Scottish ornithologist, J. A. Harvie Brown. Second edition. Bound in the publisher's original cloth.A unique copy, with many handwritten annotations, edits and notes from Scottish ornithologist and naturalist, John Alexander Harvie-Brown. In these notes, Harvie-Brown comments on Mackenzie's ideas, making suggestions on how to improve the work. It appears as though these edits were intended for a future edition of the work, however, no future editions have made it to publication. There have also been a number of additional pages to the work, to allow for Harvie-Brown's notes.Loosely inserted are two letters addressed to 'H. B', one being from British ornithologist William Eagle Clarke, and the other being from W. Ewey. Both letters are providing H. B. with some knowledge regarding fishing in Scotland. This informative work discusses salmon fishery in Scotland, with insight into the nature and habits of salmon, taken from years of close observation and practical experience. Written by Murdo Mackenzie of Ardross and Dundonnell, this edition was published more than thirty years after the the author's death, organised by Mackenzie's son after renewed interest. Rebound using the original cloth, with the original advertisements discarded and additional plain leaves added throughout, allowing for Harvie-Brown's handwritten edits. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, worn, with damp staining to the front board and a few additional marks. Tear to front joint head and a few small tears to backstrip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with extensive annotations throughout. Additional leaves have been added, which are also filled with handwritten notes. Good Only. book.
