Imprints vary slightly. Gener ostensibly is a cloistered French monk writing on the education and comportment of youth, and the impediments along the way to adulthood. I can't find anything about him and he may be Muckersy's alter ego. Muckersy (1755-1824) was the author of Old Statistical Account of West Calder, written in 1796.
