The facsimile binding is thought to be from an original by Thomas Berthelet who received the appointment of Royal Printer to King Henry VIII by Patent in 1530 and was thought to be the first English binder to ornament the leather of his bindings with gold tooling.

Her first marriage, from which she took the name by which she is generally known ended in 1900 with Patrick Campbell's death. Campbell then became the second wife of George Cornwallis-West, a dashing writer and soldier previously married to Jennie Jerome, the mother of Winston Churchill.
