Solo escribiendo pude alejarme de mi familia. Ciudad del Niño es el testimonio del trayecto generalizado de una familia huacha (huérfana). Situado en el Santiago de Chile de los años 90. Ahonda en los diversos tipos de abandonos que se repiten como patrón de identidad, de las tantas muertes que los padres ofrendan a sus hijos, de los Internados que uno carga en silencio, antes y después de pasar por uno de ellos. La desgracia no es algo personal, dice el libro, la desgracia nos hace hermanos de origen y de un abierto destino. A falta de padres la poesía me adoptó. Decir que te adopta la poesía es decir que te adopta la orfandad. La orfandad también es territorio. José del Carmen.

He also examines representations of Mexicos past in the countrys influential picture histories: popular, large-format, multivolume series replete with thousands of photographs and an assortment of texts.
