Mr de rocca (1 Ergebnisse)

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Of the three title-pages, the first shows the date 1818, the others are dated 1816. All items, of course, are bound together; pagination is in two sequences, the second comprising the 'Ode' and the 'Relation Belge'. The name of M. (Adrien Jacques Joseph) Le Mayeur appears only on the title-page for the 'Ode'; Mr (Albert Jean Michel) De Rocca is given as the author of the 'Campagne de Walcheren et D'Anvers. Half-bound in deep-red leather, with marbled-paper-covered boards, gilt decoration to spine, and gilt-on-black title-label. 142 x 227 x 23mm. 213pp in total. TEXT IN FRENCH. Five raised bands to spine, dotted in gilt and double-ruled either side; compartments contain a gilt letter 'N' beneath a crown (presumably the imperial insignia of Napoleon); marbled endpapers; several hand-coloured fold-out maps and illustrations. Red leather is a little faded on spine, sunned at top of rear board, and shows stain either side of spine in lower half (faint and not much noticeable); internal pages have a little minor spotting/staining near endpapers, but are otherwise largely clean and bright; binding sound throughout. Overall a very handsome and well-preserved copy of this scarce title (Copac shows only one other copy held in British and Irish libraries).
