In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. Hardcover. Bound in full leather (brown). A rustic, early American, binding without ornament or lettering except for a few rudimentary horizontal lines on the spine indicating the cords. Boards are bowed; when the book is not on the shelf, it opens a few degrees of its own volition. Some library numbers handwritten in white ink on the spine. Library bookplate on the inside front cover (Haverhill Public Library). First page present is the title page. Some tattering and loss of paper/text at the outer edge of the title page and the first two pages of the "Epistle to the Reader". 118 pages. There is some chipping and curling and some loss of paper (margins only) on the last dozen or so pages. Pagination jumps from page 22 to page 25, but the text is correct and continuous, so this may be a pagination error, not a missing page. The bottom half of page 27/28 is torn out and missing. The leaf with page 29/30 is missing as well (this would be the first page of the second sermon). After pages 48, the next page is numbered 33, but the text runs correctly. The verso of that leaf is numbered 40; then the following page is numbered 51. Upper corner of the final leaf is missing, including some text. No blanks at the end. There is a previous owner's name written on the first page of the third sermon, "Samuel White of Haverhill." The book measures 3.75 x just under 6 inches. Margins cut close. Published by J Draper, who was printer to the Royal Governor for a time & a staunch loyalist for his whole career. From 1732 until his death in 1762, John Draper was the publisher of the Boston News-Letter. This is the second edition of Colman's sermons; it was first published in 1714; this edition printed when the Reverend was in his late 60's but still going strong. A scarce collection of sermon, Pre-Revolutionary American Imprint. Please email with questions or to request photographs.…
