Dabei geht es im Kern um die Frage, inwiefern ein Zusammenhang zwischen Staatsfragilität und Bürgerkriegsrisiko besteht. Hierfür werden die zwölf Subindikatoren des Fragile State Index 2019, welche den Grad der fragilen Staatlichkeit messen, mit den Ergebnissen diverser empirischer Studien verglichen. Mittels dieses Vergleichs sollen insbesondere die Subindikatoren identifiziert werden, die sowohl die Staatsfragilität als auch das Bürgerkriegsrisiko eine Landes beeinflussen. Das Ziel ist es, mithilfe der identifizierten Subindikatoren, einen Zusammenhang zwischen diesen beiden Variablen herzustellen.
