He also published the monthly newsletter of the Buddhist Churches of America. We have traced only two copies of this treatise, at Ryukoku…University and Princeton University. The first half is organized by days of the week, outlining daily prayers and what one should be thankful for. The second half is Motoyoshi's treatise on Buddhism, faith, and pious living. Octavo. Section title printed on blue paper, text in Japanese. Original red foliate-pattern cloth, front board lettered in gilt. Spine lightly sunned, a little toning and dust-soiling to contents: a near-fine copy.

A highly useful resource mainly for Jap- anese, can be used for foreigners who can at least read Katakana which gives the sounds to the Japanese Kanji words. Dicionaries of this kind are quite rare & reflect the early efforts of the Japanese and foreigners to get a basic vocab- ulary organized to establish trade and commerce with the Japanese.

This was an ambitious undertaking by Buncho. It was his goal to record for posterity, every famous mountain in Japan. It was a monumental effort, covering sixty-four mountains in all. There is no worming or other issues. The work is stable and firm. It remains an excellent example of a very RARE and obscure book by TANI Buncho. All in all a very good copy of a book some 200+ years old. . *** THIS IS THE FIRST EDITION: . A similar title: MEISAN ZUE, was first issued in 1807. . *** REFERENCE: .
