Zustand: Very Good. Professor Weinberger describes his childhood in Transylvania, studies in a typical Hungarian yeshiva, then his experiences at the Rabbinical Seminaries in Budapest and Breslau. He is one of the few remaining scholars who can give a first hand account of the glory days of these two venerable institutions and the great teachers and personalities who taught there, such as Ludwig Blau, Simon Hevesi, Michael Guttmann, Arnold Kiss, etc. His vivid recollections of these two institutions bring back to life the pre-Holocaust world in a way that no mere academic treatise can. The chapters on his tenure as Chief Rabbi of the Neolog community in Cluj-Kolozsvar in Transylvania (from the mid1930's to 1944) are also a lively, fascinating and at times dramatic portrait of a vanished world. The anguish of the Holocaust, his remarkable journey to Palestine amidst the ruins of war-torn Romania and his subsequent experiences in pre-state Israel and his career in the Israeli diplomatic service as envoy to Budapest also make for gripping, exciting reading. His book is also an account of his life up to and including his visit to China circa. 1980's (he & late wife were on the first organized Jewish tour to China) Location:193 266 pp. + 43 photos top of spine has tear 193.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - What if the journey through Tishrei is not about becoming someone else, but about finding your way back to who you have always been Finding Our Way Home is an invitation to experience the Yamim Noraim and the festivals of Tishrei not merely as a sequence of sacred days, but as one continuous inner journey of the neshama.Drawing from the powerful and deeply personal teachings of Rav Moshe Weinberger, this book explores the longing, struggle, joy, and hope that lie at the heart of Elul, Rosh Hashanah, the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, and Simchas Torah. These pages speak to the Jew who wants to come closer to Hashem but does not always know how. To the person who has stood in shul year after year, heard the shofar, said the words of the Machzor, fasted on Yom Kippur, sat in the sukkah, and danced with the Torah-and yet still wonders how to allow these extraordinary days to truly change something inside.Beginning with the ache of distance and the awakening of Elul, the journey moves through the shofar's call on Rosh Hashanah, the rediscovery of our dignity during the days of teshuvah, the overwhelming love and forgiveness of Yom Kippur, the embrace and joy of Sukkos, and finally the celebration of Simchas Torah, when a Jew discovers that after all the searching, he was never truly outside.Again and again, Rav Weinberger's teachings return us to a simple but transformative truth: Hashem has never stopped wanting us. Beneath our confusion, failures, distractions, and fears lives a neshama that still remembers where it belongs.Finding Our Way Home is not a book about perfection. It is about ratzon-the willingness to want again. To believe again. To choose again. To discover that teshuvah is not primarily a movement away from who we are, but a return to the deepest part of who we have always been.Written with warmth, honesty, and hope, this book is meant to be read slowly throughout Elul and Tishrei, carried to shul, shared at the Yom Tov table, and returned to whenever the heart needs to remember the road home.Based on the teachings of Rav Moshe Weinberger and adapted by R' Aryeh Goldman, Finding Our Way Home offers a deeply accessible encounter with the inner world of Tishrei-and with the Hashem Who is forever waiting for us to come home.…
