Hardcover. Zustand: Good. ".In retrospect, it is apparent that the Luftwaffe reached its peak of effectiveness before the war had even begun. Germany's bloodless conquest at Munich was achieved largely by the fear of Goering's bombers - a threat that was real enough, though exaggerated far beyond its true dimensions. Spectacular as the were, the Luftwaffe's triumphs in Poland, Norway, Holland, and even against the French (whose air force was woefully decrepit) were not scored against major opponents. As early as Dunkirk the veil was torn, and from then on the story is one of decline, gradual until the winter of 1941-42, rapid thereafter."Ex military library stock so expect to see some markings and sparse annotations in the text. Dust-jacket in acceptable condition. Protective film torn in places, though jacket is sound if a little faded and marked. Binder in good to very good condition. Hinge action sound. Edges clean and sharp. Boards robust. Few signs of wear. Quick flickthrough of text shows little in the way of issues of significance other than initial library stamp - one missing page from print has been added back in. Overall good condition. Oversized. 1968 edited reprint of 1961 original edition. Quick dispatch. Many thanks for looking and supporting independents.…

Mint paperback reprint of a 1961 publication. This is the complete story of air lift operations carried out by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. It includes the organisation, tasks, personnel and aircraft of the Luftwaffe transport arm, and a listing of the types of operation they were called upon to complete, in all the theatres of war in which German air and land forces were engaged. Paratroop operations are included in a complete description of an essential air service in war. Coverage of operations in the east is particularly detailed including Stalingrad, the Kuban bridgehead, Demyansk and Kholm, and theCherkassy-Korsun and Crimea operations. In the west and the Mediterranean the detail is equally valuable. Although a mundane sounding subject, this volume in the Air War series is actually full of valuable extra detail not present in other publications, and is well worth the price.…
