In den WarenkorbAn offprint of this detailed taxonomic study principally of mammals collected by Philby during his journey to the Rub al Khali (Empty Quarter) in 1938. This study includes hyrax, ibex, gazelles, hares, bats, gerbils, and cats. WorldCat record just one copy, located in the UK (Edinburgh University Library). At the time of publication, Morrison-Scott notes that only three other papers on Arabian mammal collections had been produced, namely those on the Cheesman, Thomas, and Pocock specimens. Approximately 100 localities are referred to in this paper, such as Nejd, Jeddah, Al-Hofuf, and "Madina (Station)". Morrison-Scott (1908-1991) was appointed assistant keeper for the mammal room at the British Museum (Natural History), later becoming its director. His scientific papers of 1937-9 discussed animals at the London Zoo and the museum's mammal collections. Quarto. With plate of heads of Arabian gazelles. Original bluish grey wrappers, wrappers wire-stitched as issued, front wrapper lettered in black. From the "Reprint Collection, Department of Mammalogy, A.M.N.H., Duplicate" ink stamps on front wrapper, "File" in ink next to the author's name. Rust marks from staples, minor loss from damp of front wrapper left corner (affecting some text leaves), tear to head of spine, internally clean. A good copy.
