Front panel of jacket in good order showing a reclined squire on a hill side looking towards a grand castle. Front inside flap reads: In the great castle of Salvare live a brother and sister. The brother is married; the sister about to be married. These two marriages, however, are wrecked by the mutual love of brother and sister. Yet this love itself has weakness, so profound that in the end it leads to tragedy. The strange atmosphere of the castle under the moon, the busy life of the inn near by, the fine sensuality of the affair between the waitress at the inn and the narrator, are memorably described. Neat stamp on front pastedown, reinforced between the front endpaper and half title page with the rear endpaper missing, otherwise near very good in rather used, reinforced, good only dust jacket, with heavy rubbing at spine hinges and edges and some discolouration at the rear panel.
