Small folio. Title, 4 pages, black letter. Unitas Fratrum, the Moravian Church, is one of the oldest Protestant denominations in the world, though relatively small with fewer than a million adherents. At this time there were settlements in the Americas and the King wished to encourage more emigrants. This Act governed their conduct; they were allowed to affirm an oath to the King rather than swear, and were exempt from bearing arms on payment of "such sum of money as shall be rated and assessed on him in lieu of such Personal Service." They were also barred from jury service or giving evidence at trial.
