HC/DJ 1st edition, 1st printing. Snugly bound and neat in original pictorial title lettered dust jacket with publisher's $5.95 issue price intact to front flap. Prior ownership of Luis Freile penned to title page and dated 1974. Freile was the chief cartographer repsonsible for the highly regarded Map of the Moon issued by Rand McNally in 1969. It was the first detailed lunar map available for sale to the public. We assume that Freile was in the position of having to replace books on lunar surface and geography when he departed Rand McNally in 1974, but that this title was available to him in the reference library at RM while he worked on preparing the lunar map. Just mild toning to the jacket. Some light foxing to the page block edges and the reverse surface of the jacket. Illustrated with b&w photos, maps and figures. Uncommon in the original edition, especially in jacket and with an Association. VG+/VG+.
