Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Kamilaroi/Bigambul artist Archie Moore is renowned for politically astute and materially delicate portrays of self and national histories. This black monograph draws upon the artist's research with family, community and archivists to celebrate First Nations Australian sovereignty and kinship ties that span more than 2,400 generations and 65,000 years. Archie's extensive genealogical project captures the common ancestors of all humans, emphasising the universality of the family tree. Essays highlight how Archie enacts Indigenous language maintenance and confronts ongoing legacies of colonisation, including the overincarceration of Indigenous peoples in Australia. The publication centres a First Nations Australian understanding of time, where past, present and future are coexistent. The book and corresponding exhibition curated by Ellie Buttrose are commissioned by Creative Australia.First Nations artist Archie Moore creates conceptual, research-based portrayals of self and national histories.Ellie Buttrose is critic and a curator at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Australia. 1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, New York, February 11, 1955. Written at a time when Moore was having difficulties getting a fight with undefeated Heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano. Written to boxing sportswriter and historian Johnny Hauck, in part: ".I am happy in my way to attempt to help the game of boxing and I'm sure that if most other boxers would try to understand that the game must be kept clean, it would be a wonderful inspiration to many youngsters.I love a good clean fight and it's great to fight when the 'truth is your weapon.' I'll keep on fighting for what I think is right and maybe one day it will all come out in the wash." Accompanied by a typed letter from Moore's attorney on March 31, 1955 to Johnny Hauck, thanking him for a great article on Moore that was "splendidly done." The article, in essence, was a plea to the boxing world that Moore be given a chance to fight Marciano and that he had earned a title bout match. Five months later, Moore realized his dream of fighting Marciano, only to be defeated by a knockout in the fifth round. It would be Marciano's last fight. Very good condition. Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion (1952 - 1959) who still holds the record for knockouts, at 131.
