Moody joined a surveying outfit for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1865, became an Indian scout, spent a year among the Mormons in Utah while surveying [Flake "The Indians quite a few times sent me into camp with arrows hanging to my clothing and holes shot through my hat, but the closest they came to getting me was sending a bullet through one side of my boot - p.2." Includes an anecdote about meeting Mark Twain in Cheyenne in 1865-6, and Twain's financial acumen. Crudely illustrated with Moody's pen sketches.
