Two officially issued sets of original colour slides in matching card folders 17x13cm, each opening to reveal a colour photo, slide index, and plastic wallets containing 12 slides with their mounts captioned in English and Arabic. The slides generally very good, complete, although the colours are somewhat faded. The folders are very good with foxing and closed tears. These were commissioned and circulated by the UAE's Ministry of Information and Culture to promote tourism and investment. They were prepared by T.R.P., Switzerland, with photographs by Pier Giorgio Sclarandis, and design by Mario Monge. TRP had also used Sclarandis for its illustrated books on the Emirates, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, and elsewhere. These are undated, but TRP's books on the UAE tend to date to 1976-79 (eg, "Where Dreams Come True", prepared by TRP with Sclarandis' photos for the Ministry in 1976). Between them, the sets present a striking contrast of tradition and modernity existing side by side. "The Past Heritage" opens with a photo of the fort at Al Ain (replicated in Slide 4).
