In den WarenkorbHardback. Zustand: Fair to Good. New Edition. No stated date but believed to be 1851. New edition with a biographical sketch of the life of the Scottish singer John Wilson (1800-1849). A few of the songs included are: Annie Laurie, Highland Mary, Auld Langsyne, Bonny Jean, Coming Through the Rye, and Thou Art Gane Awa Frae Me, Mary! The editor of this collection of Scottish songs and music was William Mitchison, a Glasgow based seller of music. The book is bound in contemporary half leather over purple cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is only in good condition and has several faults. The case of the book has shelf wear with soiling and the corners are bumped with damage and loss to the leather around the corner tips. About 1" of the leather is missing from the top of the spine and the leather on the top half of the front and rear spine edges is split. This has left the boards feeling loose and in danger of becoming detached. The contents are tight although the book has been well-read and there is soiling and staining throughout. A few pages have ink or pencil marks or notes. The leaf containing pages 91 and 92 has a tear of about 3" on the fore edge that has old tape repairs on both sides, a name has been written in ink on page 1 and a name and 'Hand Book' has been written on the half-title page. A song from a newspaper has been pasted onto the rear free endpaper and a second front free endpaper is heavily soiled with several names and addresses written in ink and partially erased pencil. There will be other minor faults and marks and, overall, this is probably best regarded as being a reading copy only.
