[10]11-480p. Frontispiece illusration plus three full-page illustrations by F. Vaux Wilson [Frances Vaux Wilson]. Green cloth heavily embossed with stylize…d evergreen trees with title and author blocked and printed in gilt on the front coverand on the spine. Some wear to extremities with a couple of corners just barely rubbed through, top and bottom of spine just beginning to fray, horizontal split in cloth at bottom of spine (with no loss), ever so slightly shaken, spine gilt slightly dulled, cover gilt bright, all illustrations in fine condition, previous owner's pencil signature (Nellie L. Mercereau) else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. JOAN OF RAINBOW SPRINGS was made into a movie of the same name in 1920 directed by Edward La Saint and starring Shirley Mason and Raymond McKee. According to the 1920 U.S. Census, Nellie L. Mercereaux was born ca. 1872 in Pennsylvania and lived as a widow in Pasadena in 1920. Wilson, F. Vaux [Francis Vaux, b. 1899] (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).

Blue cloth stamped in blind on the front cover and the spine and with a vignette of a gate on the front cover. Wear to extremities with corners rubbed through, top and bottom of spine starting to fray, covers soiled, front hinge cracked (thus the book is slightly canted), top edge soiled, textblock tight, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. Frances Marian Mithcell is best known for her novel JOAN OF RAINBOW SPRINGS (1911) which was made into the movie "The Girl of My Heart" (1920), which starred Shirley Mason as Joan. This is a rare and unusual copy of an uncommon title by Frances Marian Mitchell.
