The author was Director of Iran's Department of Concessions, Petroleum and Mines in the Ministry of Finance, and Lecturer in Economics at Tehran University. This book, prepared at the invitation of the Iran-America Relations Society and dated March 1945, looks forward to an upswing in fortunes with Allied victory in sight. It covers physical and climatic features, natural resources, population, agriculture, traditional and modern industries, petroleum, communications, commerce, finances, standard of living, the stresses of war, and prospects. Also included is a preface by Dr AC Millspaugh, Administrator General of the Finances of Iran, and the text of Churchill, Stalin, and Roosevelt's Declaration on Iran at the Tehran Conference dated Dec 1st, 1943. The map shows agricultural products, factories, mines, oil fields, refineries, pipelines, carpet making centres, railways (actual and planned), towns, roads, etc. The photos show rural and industrial scenes, local crafts, the Abadan Refinery, the Trans-Iranian Railway / Paiforce etc.
