Rare. l The provenance from the old municipal library of Leeuwarden is confirmed by the gilt stamp on the front and back cover of the book binding. It shows the coat of arms of Leeuwarden in an oval with the letters SPQL (= senatus populusque Leovardiensis, city council and population of Leeuwarden). Gilt roll borders with corner-fleurons gilt. Decorated gilt spine with seven raised bands. Title in brown calf in the second panel. Wear to the extremities, wormwhole at the bottom of the spine. Binding slightly worn, but overall good. Paper split between page 6 and 7, but binding still intact. The New Testament in Greek, with variant readings from manuscript copies, versions (translations), editions, the Holy Fathers and ecclesiastical writers, together with notes on the same; to which are addedparallel passages of Scripture and other exegetical (interpretative) materials.Prefixed is a dissertation on the books of the New Testament and the formation of the canon, as well as a history of the text of the New Covenant down to our own times.
