Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. 8.5" x 11" softcover book, staple bound in brown card wraps. Tangerine endpapers. Unpaginated with color and b/w illustrations. Book in protective mylar dustjacket. Unmarked, binding sound. Occasional spots to inner margins of two early pages, not affecting text or image. One notable scuff to upper edge of front cover, else trivial rubbing to wraps, with some mild creasing along spines by staples. This is a rare catalogue published on the occasion of a 1982 exhibition of paintings by artists in the Transcendental Painting Group made 1939-1941, a time that marked a resurgence of interest in the group's activities. Included is an essay tracing the group's history by James Monte and Anne Glusker. With plates of works by Emil Bisttram, Ed Garman, Robert Gribbroek, Raymond Johnson, William Lumpkins, Florence Miller, Agnes Pelton, Horace Towner Pierce, Dane Rudhyar, and Stuart Walker. Very good condition example of this hard to find catalogue.
