Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Shots fired. An officer is down.'A 'sniper' opened fire with shotguns on the police officers standing in the intersection of Broadway and Grayson. Six went down wounded from the barrage of rounds fired.Forty nine citizens were injured by shotgun blast and semi-automatic rifle fire. Two died as a result of being struck by the 'sniper's bullets. The crazed gunman, high on 'angel dust,' reigned terror at the Battle of Flowers Parade in San Antonio. This is an account of an officer's career from 'tattoos' to retirement including stories of a serial rapist, hi-jackers, systematic burglars, a habitual drunk driver, a capital murder arrest and the death of a 'sniper.' No story could be without a little humor and sadness; there is a little of each told.'What I wanted to do was tell him to go hit in the head with a bottle, fight with three individuals, make entry into a dark house, see a deceased person on the floor, threatened to be killed, ride to the hospital in an ambulance and receive medical treatment and see if he could piece together the time.''The early morning hour, the description, the peering into a window of a duplex and then his checking to see if we were watching him, left us with no doubt we had a viable suspect.''The burglar stopped and produced a pistol, a four inch barrel .38 special, in his right hand and was rotating in a clockwise movement to face off with two armed police officers.'''I'm a really good thief' and in fact said, 'I'm so smart you can't catch me!''''We heard you were making under cover narcotic buys and we wanted to get a good close look at you!' He further stated, 'I don't care for people who stick their nose into other people's business and that there should be less of people like you around.'''I could not bring myself to tell him how to be a better 'hi-jacker.'''The Lord had to have been with someone that day or perhaps.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A very scarce copy of this family history of the Macdonalds behind the world famous Glenmorangie whisky brand, and related branches of that family. We can find no public holdings of this book, and it is not listed on Worldcat. Likely to have been a very small print run for family members. The Macdonald family became central to the history of Glenmorangie when the Leith-based wine and spirits firm Macdonald & Muir, founded in 1893, purchased the Glenmorangie Distillery in 1918. Under successive generations of the family, the business transformed Glenmorangie from a small Highland distillery into an internationally recognised single malt whisky. Throughout the twentieth century, the Macdonalds oversaw major expansions in production, marketing, and global distribution, establishing the elegant, delicate "Glenmorangie style" that became one of Scotland's best-known malts. The family retained ownership of Glenmorangie plc until 2004, when it was sold to Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), marking the end of nearly a century of Macdonald stewardship that shaped the distillery's modern identity. A Family History; The Glenmorangie Macdonalds, by David Macdonald and Jim Middleton. Privately published with no ISBN classification. Printed by J. Thomson of Glasgow and bound by Hunter & Foulis of Haddington. The book is copyrighted to 2012, and there is a signature dated to 22nd April, 2013, to the first free endpaper - this is from David Macdonald, and although the signature is quite heavily stylised, we have been able to compare to a known example of his signature and are able to confirm this identification. A near fine dark green hardback, bound in grained leather (or faux leather) with gilt titles, and tipped on printed photograph to front. The book is bright and clean throughout and looks unread. Illustrated. Some minor production flaw spots (probably seeped adhesive) near hinges at endpapers. A very scarce publication. x + (1) + 180pp. Language: English. Dimensions: Approximately 277mm high x 218mm wide x 22mm deep. Unpacked weight approximately 1130g. Inscribed by Author(s).
