Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - It is ten years since the first symposium on cell locomotion was held (Locomotion of Tissue Cells, Ciba Foundation Symposium 14, 1972). That meeting was chaired by Michael Abercrombie, and in his intro ductory remarks he commented on the extent to which the importance of cell locomotion, apart from that seen in leucocytes, had been under estimated. Much has been done to correct that neglect during the suc ceeding decade, and we have learned more about the underlying mechanisms of cell locomotion and about the factors which may influence it. Abercrombie was himself a major contributor to this field of research (as a glance at the lists of references in this book will confirm), and his ideas inspired the work of many other investigators. As in all branches of science, progress in the study of celliocomo tion has depended on the availability of appropriate experimental techniques. Of these, tissue culture has made the greatest contribution, in conjunction with a variety of procedures using either the light or the electron microscope. We have, therefore, attempted, in chapters 2 and 3, to provide explanations of the techniques which have been parti cularly fruitful, but only in sufficient detail to permit the reader to is not a laboratory manual.

In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good. A R Middleton Todd (illustrator). A limited edition print of William Congreve's famous play 'The Way of The World'. With a signed engraved frontispiece by A R Middleton Todd. Todd was a painter and etcher of figure subjects and portraits. He was a member of the Royal Academy. With a very interesting and extensive foreword by Malcolm C Salaman regarding the history of the play and an analysis of the technical comedic methods Congreve successfully used. This is an unexpurgated edition of the text, as upon its first publication the play struck audience members as continuing the immoral and illicit behaviour of the previous decades and therefore was not well received. Limited edition, number 41 of 875 copies printed on Japon Vellum. Printed by the Westminster Press in 1928 for the Haymarket Press. This is the first publication by the Haymarket Press. Congreve's comedy centres on two lovers Mirabell and Millamant. In order for them to marry and receive Millamant's full dowry Mirabell must receive the blessing of Millamant's aunt Lady Wishfort. However, Lady Wishfort has ideas of her own with regards Millamant's marital status and wishes her to marry her own nephew, Sir Willfull. In a quarter cloth binding with velvet like paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Some light rubbing to the boards. The gilt stamped title to the front board has faded from rubbing. Some very minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned, more so to the edges but clean throughout. Ribbon bookmark present. Very Good. signed by author. book.
