The story is set in North America in 1759 during the war between the French and British colonists who fight for their territories. The two women are escorted by Major Duncan Heyward, a confidant of Colonel Munro, by Hawkeye, a white man who is allied with the Mohicans, and his Mohican friends Uncas and his father Chingachgook. On their journey they encounter various dangers which are largely due to the Hurons,an Indian tribe that is allied with the French. Therefore, the male characters have to show their abilities in fighting and protecting themselves, as well as the females, throughout the story. Cooper approaches several topics in the narrative like racism, colonialism, heroism and masculinity but, I will only refer to the latter two. This paper reveals the differences and similarities between the characters Hawkeye, Uncas and Heyward by analysing their outer appearance and behaviour in order to review their heroism and manhood. All those three protagonists possess abilities which could allow them to be the novel's hero. But only Major Duncan Heyward goes through an outstanding personal development and therefore, meets the requested characteristics of a hero by the end of the story best. The first character that undergoes analysis is Hawkeye. I will have a closer look at his hybrid identity as he is a white man who lives in the 'wilderness'. Furthermore, his role in the narrative is discussed to classify his importance for the story. The character that is argued next is the Indian warrior Uncas. Considering his fate to be the last of the Mohicans and his secret love to Cora, his heroic position gets explained. Heyward, analysed lastly, is presented before and after living in the woods. It is demonstrated why he can be seen as the story's hero. Finally, the conclusion contains the comparison of the three characters and makes clear why Duncan unites all required features to obtain the status of the hero.

While this vision generates enthusiasm on the one hand, it triggers anxiety and scepticism on the other hand. Is gene alteration of human nature generally permissible and desirable Will not authenticity and autonomy go astray when engineering makes us what we are Are the social impacts sustainable or do we increase social and global inequality A philosophical debate was raised about these and other questions in the recent years. The English term 'Enhancement' gained acceptance as the collective term for diverse physiological, psychological, cognitive and emotional improvement of mankind. However, I will focus on the advantages, disadvantages and consequences of genetic alteration on humans from an ecocritical point of view. As ecocriticism is multifaceted I decided to take a closer look on the interaction between humans or more precisely, the exploitation of humans by humans. Therefore, I will apply an eco-Marxist approach to the novel which represents an anthropocentric ideology (cf. Benton, 28). The paper consists of three sections. Initially, I will explain the term ecocriticism. Secondly, I shall examine the advantages and the disadvantages of human genetic engineering with the example of Brave New World. Finally, the consequences of human genetic engineering are explored. Eventually, the question Why should we not play God is clarified by an evaluation of the found out consequences.

As every student can identify with this potential challenge, it is important for them to get to know different ways of dealing with trauma. Foer's story even reveals that coping with trauma is able to bring people from different races and ages together. Even if people's trauma is caused by different events there will be a connection between these people. Moreover, it would be possible to teach this topic interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary in ethics or religious education classes.As everyone could be affected by trauma I determined this topic for my planned lesson. The reason for choosing the subtopics namely 'inventing' and 'heavy boots' referring to Oskar; Grandfather Schell's 'aphasia' and 'the doorknobs' and finally, 'supressing' and 'the feeling of being needed' with regard to Grandmother Schell reveal concreteness for the main topic. I decided to teach the topic by group work to facilitate the exchange of experiences without the danger to be exposed in front of the class. I thought this is the best way, as the students can talk about how they perceived the character and his or her ability to deal with the trauma they have gone through. The team work is followed by a presentation and discussion of this work to ensure all students have reached the same level of knowledge. Moreover, it is important have the ability to emphasise with this character and change their perspectives or contribute their own experiences with loss to explain the others why somebody could show such behaviour.I will analyse the topic by a characterisation following by a psychoanalytic approach. For one it is important to get to know why people are behaving differently after experiencing loss and second, it is illuminating for the students to become aware that trauma can be responsible for the person concerned being left with an altered personality. The lesson I have planned relates to both, characterisation and psychoanalytic approaches. After the lesson the students should have general knowledge about trauma and its effects. Furthermore, it should be clear that trauma can only be overcome by going through two phases, which build up upon each other.

Schließlich wird die Unterrichtsstunde anhand eines Verlaufsplans skizziert.Das Thema des kollektiven Erinnerns ist für die SchülerInnen womöglich in weitere Ferne gerückt, da die historischen Ereignisse sehr weit von der heutigen Generation entfernt sind. Deshalb ist es der heranwachsenden Generation zunehmend erschwert, einen Bezug zu den vergangenen Geschehnissen aufzubauen. Die Unterrichtsstunde soll den SchülerInnen ermöglichen sich in die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus hinzuversetzen, aber auch Verständnis für die Freude über den Mauerfall aufbringen. Die SchülerInnen sollen ferner dazu angeregt werden politische Entscheidungen kritisch zu hinterfragen und zu reflektieren. Es soll ihnen bewusst gemacht werden, dass keine Entscheidung einfach nur hingenommen werden sollte.Mit dem Thema Erinnerung beschäftigen wir uns täglich, egal ob auf geschichtlichem oder privatem Hinblick. Wichtig ist, dass die Schüler erkennen, dass uns die Vergangenheit geprägt hat und auch weiterhin prägen wird. Diese Stunde fördert also nicht nur das sachlich-fachliche Wissen zu diesem Thema, sondern trägt auch zur Entwicklung des sozialen Verständnisses bei.

Veränderungen zur Umsetzung einer inklusiven Beschulung, wie sie in Kapitel 4 aufgezeigt werden, erfolgen nur marginal.Um diese Aspekte der Debatte zu beleuchten und die Frage zu beantworten, was Inklusion zu leisten hat, wird die folgende Arbeit die gesetzlichen Gegebenheiten, die Erwartungshaltung der UN-Behindertenrechtskonvention sowie die Umsetzung der Inklusion in Deutschland bei der Analyse berücksichtigen. Die Bestimmung der Begriffe Integration und Inklusion soll zu einem besseren Verständnis beitragen. Ein Vergleich der Bildungssysteme zwischen Deutschland, Italien und Schweden wird hergestellt, um mögliche Erfolgschancen, aber auch Schwierigkeiten der Inklusion aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und Erfahrungen darzustellen. Das Aufzeigen der Vor- und Nachteile von Förderschulen und von integrativer oder inklusiver Beschulung, dient der Aufklärung und gibt einen Überblick über die differenten Fördermaßnahmen.
