Larson and Leslie Stevens, the NBC science fiction series ran for two seasons and 32 episodes, and premiered on September 20, 1979, ending on April 16, 1981. The series' two hour premiere was released as a made-for-TV movie and released theatrically in March 1979. The twentieth century astronaut Buck Rogers emerges out of 500 years of suspended animation in the twenty-fifth century and becomes Earth's greatest hero. In this episode, the Earth Defense Directorate send Buck and Wilma to the planet Vistula to investigate their poison food supply, to discover a world engaged in slave labor run by a fanatical religious leader and slave trader, Kaleel, who has paranormal powers.
