The Vision of MacConglinne is an Irish folk tale and a parodical take on the "vision" genre of religious writings. It tells the tale of scholar MacConglinne who wishes to rid a king of a demon of gluttony living in his throat. Narrowly avoiding being crucified by monks for composing satires bout them, MacConglinne is visited by an angel that provides him a vision of a land made entirely of food, and it is decided only he can save the king. The original text of The Vision of MacConglinne was authored anonymously and believed to have first been written in the 11th or 12th century. This edition is the first modern English translation by German translator Kuno Meyer, a paragon of the study of Celtic folk tales.
