Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - A desperate father manages to have his two young sons smuggled onto a fishing boat with eighteen strangers escaping war-torn South Vietnam. Running out of food and water, the boat carrying six year old Vu and eight year old Giang is adrift on the ocean for five days. All are saved from starvation when would-be pirates toss them handfuls of burned rice. After spending over two years in refugee camps throughout Thailand, the boys end up in Oakland, California where they get caught up in the gang culture of theft, guns, drugs, and alcohol. Giang ends up in prison for murder. Having escaped death many times, Vu feels God's presence in his life, yet struggles with his faith. Eventually Vu marries beautiful Mylinh, and together they work at turning their lives around. Through the grace of God and the forgiveness of Jesus, Vu is able to leave his gang lifestyle behind to become a successful businessman, helping area youth find strength through fitness and faith. Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Cries for 'Help!' A spooky old mansion, a mysterious woman dressed in black, beckoning to come closer. This is the backdrop in which cousins Tessa and Jake work together to save children held captive in cages behind the McFog Mansion. Tessa, confined to a wheelchair, solves the mystery. In the end she gains confidence and finds the independence she's been seeking. Konnie Meyer and Karen Weick are sisters, who for many years enjoyed exchanging book ideas over coffee. Both are former educators, currently calling the small, rural community of Hamler, Ohio home. Each is the parent of three grown children and a proud grandparent. With a mother who was a librarian, and a father who dabbled in poetry, they grew up with a love for reading and writing. Through their storytelling, they hope to inspire young readers to develop the same passion for books.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This book is written by a gray-haired grandma who's lived long enough to know that over time, memories fade. Keeping this in mind, the stories in this book attempt to chronicle the craziness, document the drama and officially put into print her observations. As a result, 32 of the 34 short stories paint a panoramic picture with words; a light-hearted, lasting portrait of one family's history. It's a sure bet, more than just members of the baby boomer brigade will enjoy reading this tribute to family, faith, and fun.
