Submitted work for the exhibition was required from all participants in 8'' x 10'' horizontal format, in order to "stimulate interests beyond the fetishism of the object and to allow artists outside California to participate on an equal basis." With accompanying essays by James Hugunin, Robert Leverant, Allan Sekula, Donna-Lee Phillops, John Brumfield, Geoffrey Cook, Sam Samore, Harley W.
