Brustbild von vorn. - Sie gilt als Vorreiterin der vokalen Performancekunst und der extended vocal techniques, einer in den 1960er und 70er Jahren in den Vereinigten Staaten maßgeblich von Frauen initiierten, neu entstandenen Kunstform. Sie schuf ein komplexes Werk multimedialer Solo- und Ensemblestücke, ausgehend von ihrer Stimme, mit der sie einen unverwechselbaren Stil prägte.

Audio-CD. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Diese 'Piano Songs' eröffnen eine Welt, die gleichzeitig verspielt und ernsthaft ist. Sie wurden von Meredith Monk zwischen 1971 und 2006 geschrieben (beziehungsweise sind manche von ihnen aus Werken aus dieser Zeit entwickelt) und werden hier von zwei der profiliertesten Interpreten der Neuen Musik, den Pianisten Ursula Oppens und Bruce Brubaker, vorgestellt. Diese Stücke sind mit dem Begriff 'Songs' treffend bezeichnet, haben sie doch starke Wurzeln in Meredith Monks Kompositionen für Gesang, und auch wegen ihrer Direktheit und Bildhaftigkeit. Meredith Monk über das Komponieren für zwei Klaviere: 'Ich vertiefte mich in die unterschiedliche Beziehungen und Möglichkeiten zwischen ihnen, das Material verschob sich mal hierhin, mal dorthin, Dialoge, ineinandergreifende Phrasierungen, Veränderungen im Zusammenspiel von Spielfiguren und Hintergrund. In einigen Stücken habe ich die Individualität jedes der beiden Klaviere herausgearbeitet, dem einen Spieler die Rolle des 'Sängers' und dem anderen die der 'Begleitung' zugewiesen. In anderen wollte ich, dass die beiden Pianos zusammen einen großen Klang erzeugen.'.
